Margarita Demjanoka
Principal Dancer
Born in Russia, Margarita Demjanoka graduated from the Riga Choreography High School in 1996. She joined the Latvian National Opera Ballet that same year and was promoted to the Principal Dancer in 2000. In 2003 Margarita received the Latvian Theatre Award as 'Best Dancer of the Year', the Annual Spelmanu nakts, Aldaris International Award and the Latvian Great Music Award. In 2008 she received the Latvijas Gāze Annual Award as 'Best Dancer of the Year'.
With the Latvian National Opera Ballet, she has toured to Germany, Holland, Finland, France, England, USA, Denmark, Russia, Austria and Belgium. Margarita regularly performed as a guest dancer at Jalil Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
She has been praised as a beautiful performer and a flawless dancer in her performance in Latvian National Opera Ballet’s Anna Karenina. She has danced principal roles in many signature repertoire including Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet, Giselle and La Slyphide, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, to name a few. Margarita Demjanoka joined The Hong Kong Ballet as Principal Dancer in 2009.
