The Hong Kong Ballet is pleased to announce the student ticket sponsorship by Citi for the new season 2008-09 aiming to promote art appreciation amongst Hong Kong younger generation.

Citi is the first Student Ticket Sponsor for the Hong Kong Ballet since its founding in 1979. With accomplished dancers, a strong repertoire, sparkling productions and an original identity, the Hong Kong Ballet produces more than 40 performances each year of full-length and mixed repertory ballets to an audience of 45,000. Students have always represented more than 30% of the audience and has gradually increased to close to 40% in recent years, signaling that students are becoming a more integral part of the Hong Kong Ballet's audience base, and their interest in the art of ballet is growing.

Mr. Sim S. Lim, Citi Country Officer of Hong Kong, said, "The arts are an important part of any community. That's why Citi is pleased to be the first Student Ticket Sponsor for the Hong Kong Ballet. We are proud to bring this artistic dance to our younger generation to nurture their appreciation of an art form that transcends cultures and inspires us all."

John Meehan, Artistic Director of the Hong Kong Ballet, said, "For many people, attending a classical ballet performance can be an exhilarating and uplifting experience. Citi's student ticket sponsorship will help to introduce young people to the art of ballet. Hopefully they will become regular audience members of the Hong Kong Ballet and their lives will be enriched by this experience."

With sponsorship from Citi, the Hong Kong Ballet is able to offer more student tickets, enhancing the opportunity for students to be in touch and to appreciate professional ballet performances.
