So why now begin a new tradition by experiencing one of the evergreen holiday-musts: The Nutcracker? If you and your family had never been a part of this magical event, there’s no better time to start.
The Hong Kong Ballet’s long-running, annual Christmas production of The Nutcracker will open at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from 18 to 27 December. Tickets are available at all URBTIX outlets now, so this is the time to book to ensure your best seats
Set to Tchaikovsky’s whimsical music and based on a traditional tale adapted by the French writer, Alexandre Dumas, The Nutcracker ballet was first performed at St Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre in December 1892. It has since become a magical part of Christmas tradition for adults and children all over the world.
The enchanting music of Tchaikovsky will be performed by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, under the baton of Ormsby Wilkins. With the sumptuous set and costumes making a delightful spectacle, the show is a magnificent ballet, a must-see holiday show for the whole family.
Over the past 12 years, The Hong Kong Ballet production of The Nutcracker has entertained nearly 220,000 audiences. Besides the much-loved performances, a series of Programme Plus activities has been arranged to bring everyone that special holiday mood. These include Make A Christmas Wish, pre-performance talk and workshops.
