Dancer Q&A

1. Why do you dance?
Dance makes me feel things that are unexplainable and very precious. It provides me a daily research about my mind, body and soul and makes me reflect a lot about life. While dancing, I feel loved, not just because of the music, the movements and the history behind it, but also because of the connection that we can have with people on studio, stage and of course, in the audience. We all collect different knowledge and experiences in life, and dance is my way to share mine with the world. While dancing, I always have forms to challenge myself and search for a better version of me, while I learn each moment more and more.

2. Why did you start dancing?
My sister has Down’s Syndrome. When she was younger, she needed to go to specific doctors and do physiotherapy. When she grew up, she didn’t have to do physio anymore, but the doctor told her to practice sports to continue her muscle stimulation. My mom decided to put her in ballet, and I started doing it too. I used to play soccer and have a skateboard, the opposite of a ballerina, and I was always searching for fun! In my first class, it was love at first sight, and it is now forever in my life!

3. What was the first ballet you ever performed?
The first choreography I danced was in a group where I was one of Tinker Bell’s friends, and my first classical variation was Paysant from the ballet Giselle.

4. What is the attribute you most like about yourself?
I like how determined and positive I am.

5. If you could have one more talent, what would it be?
I would like to know how to play violin or piano.

6. What’s your favourite food?
My favourite foods are açai or smoothie bowls. I also LOVE drinking coffee!

7. What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are painting mandalas, to read, explore coffee shops and go for long walks.

8. What is the coolest thing about being a dancer?
The coolest thing is the opportunity we have to travel the world and meet so many different people while doing something that we love so much!

9. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I would like to fly or to tele-transport. Talking to animals would also be cool. It’s difficult to choose only one!

 10. Who is your favourite dancer who has inspired you?
My favourite dancers are Marianela Núñez and Mayara Magri, Principal Dancers with the Royal Ballet! My biggest life inspiration is my sister Manuela.
