A preview of Turandot was held on 21st Jan 2015 at the Studio Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Our Director of Artistic Planning & Touring, Joseph Morrissey talked about the history and production background of this stunning ballet, adapted from the opera of the same name, to approximately 120 audience members, giving them a greater insight into the ballet.

To explain more about the development and idea behind the adaptation, Joseph discussed other significant ballets that have also been created from many recognized operas in the world, including: Manon, Madame Butterfly, Onegin and Eugene Onegin. Audience members also enjoyed some footage of our Artistic Director, Madeleine Onne dancing in Onegin and Manon. Joseph then interviewed Madeleine Onne to discuss her experiences and perspectives of these ballets. The audience loved hearing more about the ballet’s history, its transformation from opera to ballet, as well as the impressive dance demonstration by The Hong Kong Ballet’s dancers.
