KAN Ka Kit Jordan

Corps de Ballet

Born in Macao, China, Kan Ka Kit Jordan trained at Shanghai Dance School and at School of Dance, Macao Conservatory. In 2017, he graduated from Beijing Dance Academy, where he received several scholarships, and joined Hong Kong Ballet as a Corps de Ballet member the same year.

.With HKB, Kan has performed the featured roles of Chinese Doll in Terence Kohler’s The Nutcracker, Tall Guy in Septime Webre’s Romeo+Juliet and John Darling and Tootles in Webre’s Peter Pan. He has also performed in John Meehan’s Swan Lake, Cynthia Harvey’s The Sleeping Beauty, Webre and Charla Genn’s Giselle, Nina Ananiashvili’s Don Quixote, Anna-Marie Holmes’ Le Corsaire, Webre’s The Nutcracker, Cinderella, ALICE (in wonderland)The Great Gatsby and Ballet Classics for Children: Cinderella, George Balanchine’s Jewels, Justin Peck’s Year of the Rabbit and Yuh Egami and Hu Song Wei Ricky’s The Rite of Spring. Kan won the Male Solo third prize in the 2012 Taoli Cup Dance Competition.

Dancer Q&A

1. What does ballet mean to you?
Ballet to me is a part of my life. It has been an important part of my life since I was born, and it is something I cannot live without.

2. Why did you start dancing?
When I was little, my sister would go to ballet class, and I would follow. I slowly became fond of it, and it eventually turned into a dance career.

3. What was the first ballet you ever performed?
The will to keep improving and the passion and respect for my job.

4. Most memorable/weird onstage moment and why?
The most memorable moment is my high school graduation performance. After six years of living with my friends, at the end of the performance, we all cried. It was very moving, and it became my most sweet and unforgettable memory.

5. What keeps you motivated on tough days?
I tell myself to surpass myself from yesterday.

6. What is the place where you feel most yourself?
When I am with my family at home.

7. What would you be if you were not a dancer?
I would be a singer.

8. What are your hobbies?
Singing, watching movies.
