An evening of timeless contrast co-presented with Cartier

Hong Kong Ballet 2023/24 Season

[Hong Kong—14 October 2023] Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) partnered with Cartier to reprise the Hong Kong Ballet Ball after a five-year hiatus. The much-anticipated event was held in Rosewood Hong Kong’s The Grand Ballroom on Friday, 13 October 2023.

The Ball’s theme ‘The Black and White Ball: Where Shadows and Light Dance’ celebrates HKB’s new production of Swan Lake, a gorgeous contemporary take on a beloved classic that will enthral audiences next year. The Ballet Ball has been a glittering highlight of the charity ball season since its inception in 1985. Funds raised by HKB patrons have enabled the company to significantly grow over the past four decades and to create original repertoire and award-winning education programmes that ensure that ballet will be accessible to all for years to come.

Among them were Ms Daisy Ho, BBS, HKB Board of Governors Chairman and Co-Chair of the 2023 Hong Kong Ballet Ball Committee; Mrs Janice Chan-Choy and Ms Maya Lin, HKB Board of Governors members and Ballet Ball Committee Co-Chairs; Ballet Ball Committee members: Ms Carmen Choi, Mrs Michelle Miller Erb, Mrs Reyna Harilela, Mrs Shirley Hiranand, Mr Christopher Ho, Ms Porcia Leung, Mrs Christy Liang, Mrs Connie Wei Yang, Mrs Liana Yung Yeung, Mr Stephen Yeung; Ms Linda Fung, HKB Board of Governors Vice Chairman; HKB Board of Governors members Ms Lindzay Chan, Ms Flora Zeta Cheong-Leen, Dr h.c., Mrs Deirdre Fu Tcheng; Mr Septime Webre, HKB Artistic Director; Ms Heidi Lee, HKB Executive Director; Special guests: Ms Louisa Cheng, Ms Elly Lam, Ms Amanda Strang, Mrs Mahnaz Lee, Mr James Louey, Mrs Jane Louey, Ms Ming Ho-Tang, Mr Norman Ho, Mrs Margaret Wai Lai Choi, Mr Karson Choi, Mrs Irene Wang Yuen Yuen, Ms Feiping Chang, Ms Antonia Michela Li and more.

Additionally, the popular silent auction had a variety of unique items and experiences that had guests bidding generously to support the company’s meaningful community programmes.

Ball Co-Chairs Daisy Ho, BBS, Janice Chan-Choy and Maya Lin emphasised the many hands that helped bring the evening to life. Ho said, ‘It has been five years in the making, so let's not just raise funds; let's raise hopes, dreams, and Hong Kong's cultural spirit. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our Board of Governors whose wisdom and guidance are the compass by which we navigate. Our Ballet Ball Committee members’ enduring commitment since 2019 has been the bedrock upon which tonight’s occasion stands.
