The Hong Kong ballet is proud to present an evening of new works created by the young dancers of the Company. Eight new contemporary and neo classical pieces have been created by the talented choreographers each reflecting their own unique cultural elements and style. Set to Classical as well as Pop and Rock music, the ballets will present the creative ideas and singular point of view of the young!
Ambush (Choreography: Li Jia-bo)
The dramatic structure and impressive movements of this neo-classical ballet vividly convey the wide range of emotions conjured from the rhythmic Chinese classic Ambush from Ten Sides taking the audience on a thrilling cultural journey.
Bête Noire (Choreography: Brett Simon)
An imaginative blend of contemporary and neo-classical movements in Bête Noire reflects a man's inability to accept fundamental characteristics of his personality.
Collage of One (Choreography: Yuh Egami)
Facts, dreams and delusion are integral parts of human life. But what experiences do we choose to take as our own personal truth? Collage of One describes the complexities we all face in life.
Déjalo Donde Estaba (Choreography: Carlo Pacis)
Set to expressive Spanish guitar music, this ballet explores an unwanted but necessary emotional journey.
Footprints (Choreography: Selina Chau)
The iconic Chinese movie The Sun Also Rises inspires Chau's beautiful contemporary piece. The visual poetry of the narrative is expressed through wonderfully imaginative choreography taking the audience on an emotional adventure of love, madness, desire and deceit.
Man Woman Man (Choreography: Aurora Kwong)
Love can be simple. Love can be complicated. The many layers of love are explored in this contemporary study of the relationship between men and women and the emotional tensions aroused between them.
Nothing (Choreography: Li Yi-ran)
Yi-ran's inventive ballet portrays the various aspects of life's intricacy. Varying emotional experiences such as happiness and sadness, and gain and loss determine the individual memories we hold.
Yellow (Choreography: Johnathan Mangosing)
A take on the old American slang word - Yellow that illustrates two couples where their relationships are marred by cowardice, lack of commitment, and the inability to relish in the love he/she has.
